Your point about not being able to find anything different--oh so true. Sadly, fashion is becoming more homogenized as time goes on.

I've been seeing a lot of stiletto ankle booties -which I don't love- so I'm glad to see some other options in the stores. (Don't you hate when a trend you want to skip is IN and you can't seem to find anything different?)

Anything you like and have fun wearing...and that looks good on you...NEVER goes out of style.
"Trends" and "In or Out" is ridiculous and is simply a way to keep people spending money.
A lot of the clothes I have are 10-15 years old.The rare times when I shop, I make sure whatever I get doesn't scream "Hey! I'm from when this was in style!"
$500 for a pair of boots that will be "out of style" next year?
If you're going to spend that kind of money, you should be prepared to wear them even when they go "out of style".
I prefer my black cowboy boots and the classic black riding boots.
They never go "out of style". And I don't buy boots every winter because I already have them. Good ones last, and when they're broken in it's like having custom boots.
Oh, and I made a beautiful, very plain and classy, poncho 5 years ago. It has no cables, no patterns. The yarn is a charcoal grey tweedy colour. I bring it out when it starts to get cold, and every year people ask me where I got it.
It's not going "out of style". And it doesn't scream "I'm from when the poncho was 'in'!"
