I travel a lot for work and I always try to look slightly polished (i.e. no hoodie and sneakers) even if I am flying in the day before- otherwise I get mistaken for a college student! (darn my babyface)
Here is my go-to oufit: tanktop under a thin tunic-length knit or sweater+ long cardigan/sweatercoat + leggings or black pants (my favorite is a pair of dress pants that is a size too big - the top is hidden under the tunic and they are as comfy as sweats!) + loafers or other slipon shoes + pashmina/big scarf (doubles as a blanket)!

On that long flight - drink lots of water and no alcohol. Get up and walk around at least every hour - if you stay sitting the whole time, your ankles and feet may swell. And obviously throw your toothbrush into your carry on.

Cute! The boots and coat might be a bit of a pain to take off and put on through security (plus if you have a laptop, taking that out of your bag too!) but if you can handle , go for it!

In my opinion from several red eye flights in the past, fly in leggings and flats/slippers, and then throw on the tights and boots in the airport bathroom when you land. You'll be much less cranky than if you had to fly all that way with control top on, that you wont even notice the freezing temperatures =)

Great point, Cindy. The outfit shown works if you're only going to be outdoors for a few minutes at a time (possible, if you're taking a cab straight from the airport to the flat). Should that not be the case, wear a warmth-retaining base layer both on top and bottom. And splurge for the full-length coat!

Great outfit! Love the colors and how its sleek and put together :)
However --- I'm going to New York and the highs will be 30 deg. I imagine London would be even colder.

Could a girl pull wearing the knit dress (tights on) without freezing in that temperature range? :)

We created the outfit using a site called Polyvore. You can find more information about where the items came from here:
http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?.mid=embed&id=827098

That said, I'm not sure that the items are still in stock.
