Thanks, Sal!

Chloe, in order to layer with a featherweight sweaterdress and stay warm, you're going to need a lot of extra garments. Like Traci says, keep your core warm. You could try silk undergarments under your dress and a jacket on top.

If anyone has a solution to keep sweaters looking new, please speak up! I haven't been able to prevent sweaters from pilling myself, but I do "maintain" my sweaters using a fabric shaver. For more tips on how to keep garments looking new, here's a post we wrote awhile back:

I love sweaterdresses!! I have two questions, how would you layer a featherweight sweaterdress so you are warm but not bulky? I've tried turtleneck and tights, it wasn't warm enough.

Second, how do you keep your sweaterdresses in perfect condition, so they do not snag or pill?
Thanks a bunch!

Brilliant as always, Trisha. Your suggestions to Katie are spot-on, and I SO agree that a heavier weave works better for a bumpier figure.

Katie,

You can wear sweaterdresses too - just choose the right one for your body. Like we said in the article, stiffer knits are going to work better. To best flatter your personal architecture, look for a sweaterdress with a lower neckline (to flatter your chest) and wear a belt (to define your midsection).

Hope that helps,
Trisha

Now that we're at the topic of sweaterdresses, I thought I'd push this question across (in case anyone can answer this).

I am among the "less than perfect" bodies mentioned in this article. I am broad-shouldered, larger chested, a spare tire in the midsection and toned and slim hips and legs. I'd LOVE to show off the legs more, but for some reason I keep looking very "blocky" and curveless in these dresses/tunics. Does it depend what fabric/neckline I use, or should I skip these altogether (to add to the long list of top restrictions that I already have)?

Great to have sweater dresses back in style. These are so comfortable and easy to maintain, wonderful for work and early evening dinners or after work get-togethers. They can be changed by accessories so easily. Absolutely lovable fashion.
