Also, bags made of PVC and other artificial materials are bad for the environment. Much better to either buy vintage or source items from smaller manufacturers/ designers where you aren't paying a premium for a brand name -- or, as another reader suggested, scour the online sample sales for a deal. But you can get a chic bag that will tote your essentials for a season or two (or three). I use these cheap-chic bags as "beater" bags for my everyday essentials at work. Though they don't last as long as their designer brethren, they do allow me to keep on switching my bags out season after season...and keep my accessories interesting!
