If you go swimming, I suggest you buy cheap plastic shoes. The beach is not sand but what is called as "gallets", small stones. Going bare feet is hard when you come out of the sea. I agree, June is a warm time of year. Dress in layers.

I've spent a lot of time in Nice and have been there in June. The weather in June was rather warmer than what you are describing. As for how to dress, it depends on whether or not you care about looking like a tourist. For a start, only Americans wear tennis shoes. Also, French women seem to prefer muted tones and wear few prints. Shorts would be fine on the beach, but not in a decent restaurant. Scarves are too hot in the summer! Have a great time!
