my american apparel minis i've pretty much worn to shreds. unfortunately they lose shape rather quickly, but they are my absolutely favorite summer wardrobe staple - have 3 of them in the blue!

hmm would you knot the shirt over the tank top so instead of revealing skin you reveal the blue tank? or would you just wear it hanging open?

I'm short but for day I don't want to wear heels with my mini skirt. So I wear a flesh-tone pair of ballet flats instead. They make my legs appear longer and I don't feel as naked as I would in sandals.

I do like how you mixed the blues. I'm a big fan of sticking to one color in different shades.

My denim mini gets TONS of use, and I agree that the key is to keep it fairly conservative up top.

Also agree that a 40-year-old with great legs can pull it off, if paired with less racy tops and shoes.

I definitely think you can wear a mini skirt or short shorts when you're 40 and in great shape. covering up on top and coordinating your clothes with age appropriate colors will make the outfit seem less pamela anderson.

Will this work for a 40-something with great legs? I don't mind wearing skirts just above the knees for everyday wear, but mid-thigh length gets a little dicey. The same question applies for short-shorts. Still, in hot weather, it's hard to beat the shorter lengths for comfort.
