After a trip to the Gap a month or so ago, I essentially walked out with this outfit, which I think is hilariously coincidental.

I bought that shirt, that hoody, and the 1969 line version of those cords. Crazy.

For splurge worthy plaids, burkman bros. is where you want to go. I love the red plaid (leftmost piece, second row).

http://www.burkmanbros.com/collection.php (click on collection).

They style the pieces in kind of an urban lumberjack way, but they can definitely be dressed up.

They're at Barney's New York and Bergdorf, for you New Yorkers.

I have plenty of plaids. I find that the color/pattern of the plaids is more than enough; the rest of the outfit should be subdued.

I love the black/white buffalo check underneath a navy cloth peacoat (black works great too). It works well with canvas pants to give the look a kind of urban finish.

Love it! You've got some great pairings there, Gary. The olive green fatigue pants, desert boots, and the flannel plaid make for a great look.

Bought a couple of great ones from J. Crew recently. Great fit, nice colors. I've been pairing them with some olive-green fatigue/cargos and a khaki-colored camp pants. Sometimes with some white Converse Jack Purcells, other times with desert boots, depending on weather and temps.

Pairing with jeans striikes me as a little too ordinary but it might work.

Dunno . . . still looking kinda lumberjack. I say why fight it and go full tilt: ditch the cords and go with some tough looking jeans. But then blue and red don't mix well, so you'd need some type of gray or maybe black jean.
