January 2012 Lookbook: Schizophrenic Color
January 23rd, 2012

This look is part of Omiru’s January 2012 Lookbook series, which builds upon our 16-Piece January 2012 Capsule Wardrobe. See more information about this look.
Once you’re comfortable wearing color, the real fun begins. You don’t have to limit yourself to a single color - or even two or three. You can embrace the world of color, combining a kaleidoscope of different hues in a single look. But how do you wear that much color without looking crazy? The secret to getting the look is to keep one color dominant - and to add the rest of the colors as accents. Here’s how to get the look:
1. Start with a base color. Here, I’ve chosen a royal blue shift dress to anchor the look.
2. To that base color, I’ve added a leopard print jacket in a brown color to complement the royal blue.
3. Now, I’ve started to play with color - adding a pair of bright red sunglasses, a black patent leather bag with neon yellow detailing, a pair of taupe shoes with a neon pink strap, and finally, a necklace that combines red, brown, blue, and lilac. To add that many colors to the look, I’ve kept the hues in the same family - neons and brights.

I like a blue dress but I am not sure about the bag.
