SPLURGE ALERT!
by John Liu
This piece, the result of a Summer collaboration between Jessica Ogden and APC, was in so high demand that A.P.C. restocked its supply when Fall 09 came out. You don’t often see that happen, especially with more upscale designers (it helps kept exclusivity, if nothing else). The color scheme and slouchy fit definitely make this a summer piece, but waiting until next summer to really wear it a lot will be worth it. (Yes, it’s expensive, but the cost per wear you can get out of it can make it reasonably affordable.) Also, I bought this one for myself – and what is a better endorsement than that?
$110 at APC.

Here at Omiru, we’re all for classics with a twist. So we were pleased to discover Old Navy’s new printed lining hoodies. From the outside, they look like simple, classic hoodies. But the inside lining features playful prints.
$39.50 at Old Navy.

We’re all for men in bold colors, so we’re loving American Eagle’s selection of pique polo shirts. Pick one up in bright yellow–or grass green. Another great option? Blood orange.
$24.50 at American Eagle.

Guys, this isn’t your grandpa’s cardigan. The texture and toggle closures keeps things modern, and it’s light enough to wear on a summer night. It’s a great color and cut too.
$298 at Bluebee.

Contrast Collars are fashionable right now. Unfortunately, the contrast collar often conjures up images of Gorden Gekko raking in the dough and scheming people out of their hard earned cash. On top of that, you don’t often see it done casually, at least not well.
This may be an exception. This short sleeve piece comes in a great shade of gray. With a contrast collar and a hidden button placket, it combines two hot trends of the moment. Get it while it (and the trend) is hot.
For $165, you’re paying extra for a superior cut, lightweight fabric and, in Robert Geller, a designer label as well.
$165 at Jake.

Why do we love this shirt? Let us count the ways…
(1) The versatile plaid fabric goes with all of your summer basics,
(2) Linen is comfortably breathable, and
(3) The fitted shape makes this shirt look sharp.
