Q&A: Cool Clubbing Clothes for Guys

August 8th, 2007

Q:  I’m an Asian college guy looking for cool clubbing clothes that I can also use as casual wear on campus. Have any suggestions?

Armani Exchange Slim Fit ShirtA:  Choose clubbing clothes that reflect your personality, just as you would for the rest of your wardrobe.  The standard men’s clubbing uniform is a collared, button-down shirt with trousers or fancy jeans.  If you want to blend in with the crowd, look for solid colors and darker hues.  But if you’re looking to stand out from the crowd, you can be more adventurous with bright colors and patterns.

For mall clothes, Armani Exchange tends to have the best clothes that double as clubwear and casualwear.  Their styles are a bit more flashy than that of other stores and tend to be more fitted as well.  Club Monaco also features subtly stylish clothing with a snug fit.

Where to start?  The quintessential shirt that works from casualwear to clubwear is a dark colored slim fit shirt.

The quintessential shirt that works from casualwear to clubwear is indeed a dark colored (black is best) slim fit shirt. After that it’s time to shop for some printed designs, such as horizontal stripes or 70’s “disco” retro designs. Abercrombie & Fitch is a great place for the stripes; Diesel, Guess? and Kenneth Cole Reaction for designs.

Great tip, KingBob. I’m totally with you on the printed designs–and Kenneth Cole is a great place to find these shirts.

Thanks…..but DELETE horizontal stripes. I meant to say VERTICAL stripes…..up and down. Horizontal would be horrible!

Yeah, horizontal stripes are harder to pull off…but hey, with the right attitude, you could do almost anything :)

    you are amazing =)

(actually i think it MAY work if you wore it under a soild color sweater and solid color pants of the same color but different shades…this shirt would acts as a very..interesting…burst of color

Love that shirt, John! Yeah, a solid colored sweater would work best. Black’s a safe pairing, but another non-neutral complementary color would be *so* much cooler.

I found a very good collection of clubbing shirts: all – slim fit and look fantastic:
    Clubbing shirts for men

Their color shirts are good for clubbing, the black is cool, but I like white shirts the best.

As for the clubbing/casual double-duty shirt I use artdeco’s FrenchRoayl and Romantici styles. Here is one more link:

They are fantastic, I love them!
