Date Night
Feeling the love for this set?  Here’s more information about it.

The ideal date night outfit makes you look great, reveals your individual sense of style, and encourages your date to ask for a next rendezvous.  It’s a whole lot to ask of an outfit, but you don’t have to be Supergirl to make it work.  (Plus, you have us to get you started with some style inspiration.)  How do you look great on a date?  Here’s a versatile date-night fashion formula that’s sure to turn heads:

1.  Start with a cocktail dress.  This navy chiffon smock dress features sheer sleeves and an artsy attitude.
2.  It’s cold out–so put on a jacket.  This brown cropped bomber jacket adds a tough vibe to the gauzy, sophisticated dress.
3.  Accessorize with layers of necklaces (to befit the artistic vibe of the dress), a statement headband to draw attention up towards your face, and a pair of velvety brown boots to add some texture.

Ladies, what’s your go-to date outfit?  Share your style with us in the comments!

Love this. A great mixture of romantic and tough.

Hmm really depends on what the date is.. I guess for a dinner date, I’d wear a cute little dress or maybe my tightest jeans with some fierce boots. Reveal a little skin and keep the makeup sheer with lots of mascara. Also, use a lipstain but not gloss cuz that’s too sticky for kissing later 😉

Aren’t layers of necklace + big floral headband too much in accessories department? (I assume there is a handbag/clutch too)

How can I layer appropriately if it’s very cold outside? I live in Massachusetts. I have a date Friday when it will be cloudy and 35 degrees Farenheit outside.

Kelly – Traci had a great post about how to layer appropriately for cold weather: http://www.omiru.com/index.php/2009/01/13/qa-how-to-layer-for-cold-weather-days/

The essence of this is that you need to keep your core warm in order to stay warm. The article gives tips on how to layer to dress stylishly, even in the Massachusetts cold.

MizzJ – great tips, especially the one about lipstain!

As for the question about the layered necklaces and the floral headband, they can be a bit much if you’re not an accessories kind of gal. But they actually work really well together if you wear them confidently!
