Spring Summer Fashion Formula #7: Boyfriend Blazer and a Floaty Dress

May 7th, 2009

Spring Summer Fashion Formula #7
Feeling the love for this set?  Here’s more information about it.

Mix masculine and feminine in a outfit that’s supremely sophisticated.  Simply pair a floaty, feminine dress with an oversized boyfriend blazer.  Here’s how to get the look:

1.  Start with a floaty, feminine dress.  We’re digging the drapey chiffon and the elbow-length sleeves (which camouflage heavy arms).
2.  Layer on a hip-length boyfriend blazer.  The tailored blazer contrasts against the floatiness of the chiffon dress.  Bonus style points if you push up the sleeves of the blazer.
3.  Accessorize with a pair of knee-length boots and a sophisticated-yet-roomy bag.  Finish off the outfit with a colorful scarf for a final visual punch.

How would you wear a boyfriend blazer and floaty dress?  Share your style with us in the comments!

Hmm, I’d keep everything except the blazer. Boyfriend blazers look boxy and unflattering on my bod, so I’d swap it out for a cropped one.

I like this ensemble but I noticed that the Luella blazer that’s used in a lot of the outfits on this site has been sold out for a long time–how about using a different one?

Good observation, Susan. We’ve been purposely using the same core group of clothing items to show the variety of outfits you can create. Here’s the original post: http://www.omiru.com/index.php/2009/03/24/fashion-101-omirus-womenswear-spring-summer-capsule-wardrobe/.

We’ll be using a fresh set of items for our next capsule wardrobe!

Who makes the brown bag in this post? I looked on the Polyvore set, but I don’t think it says, unless I’m missing it. Thank you.

Forever 21 makes the brown bag. However, I just checked, and it looks like it’s sold out.

We featured it in a post a couple of weeks ago about great handbags under $50:

Guess these bags are going fast :(

Thank you for the reply about the bag. Just my luck that it would be sold out. Thanks anyway!
