Spring Summer Fashion Formula #9: Casual Cool in Shorts

May 28th, 2009

Spring Summer Fashion Formula #9
Feeling the love for this set?  Here’s more information about it.

Temperatures may be rising, but you can keep your cool in a pair of casual shorts.  But casual shorts don’t have to look sloppy, if you pair them with the right elements.  Here’s how to look pulled together, even when you’re wearing a simple top and casual shorts:

1.  Start with a pair of knee length shorts and a cute sleeveless or short sleeved top.  We’re digging the bright yellow color juxtaposed against the clean white.
2.  Add a lightweight layering sweater - for those cool mornings or times when you’re indoors with extra-strong AC.
3.  Finish off the outfit with a brightly colored tote and a pair of statement sandals.  Don’t you love how the seafoam color on the tote makes that bright yellow tunic even more radiant (and vice versa)?

How do you keep it casually cool in shorts?  Share your style with us in the comments!

I love the color combination of yellow and seafoam – perfect for summer!

I’m not much of a shorts gal, preferring cropped cargos and skirts, but I like pairing my bermudas with cowboy boots for a southwestern look. A little more thematic than casual, but still fun!

I’m a huge fan of seafoam – especially paired with yellow or cobalt blue. Glad you like it too, Diana!

Sal – definitely still fun. You’re really rocking those cowboy boots!
