Mens Trend Alert: The Colorful Plaid Shirt

December 2nd, 2009

If there’s an "It" pattern this season, it has to be Plaid.  And what better fabric than plaid to dominate the runways and storefront windows?  The fresh, unstuffy feeling of plaid crosses boundaries - of both class and occasion.  You don’t need to confine plaid to the weekend, or to being paired with jeans and sneakers.  Try dressing it up with a snappy, tailored overcoat and a chunky knit scarf or sweater for some extra texture.  Here’s four versatile plaid shirts to incorporate into your wardrobe:

I guess my husband has been ahead of this time all these years! I’ll let him know what a trendsetter he is. :-)

What?! No J. Crew?! They’ve been leading the pack in the plaid/tartan/flannel arena this fall, in my humble opinion.

My boyfriend’s been ahead of the trend for years then! I’d recommend looking at thrift shops, there are always plaid shirts there and for a much more reasonable price. Gap’s shirts look nice but I just can’t see paying $50 for one…

I have to admit I paid nearly 75 bucks for each of my J. crew flannels this year. But trust me, they’re worth it, and the magic, as they say, is in the details. The fit is slim but not overly so, the buttons are nice, the pockets are done nicely, and the colorworks match up well (e.g., pockets, etc.)

Uh is lumber jack shirt in style now? I can’t imagine myself wearing that to be fashionable.

It is “in” but I generally don’t wear stuff to be fashionable. I wear “fashionable” stuff because sometimes it agrees with what i like to wear.
