Supersize your style this Fall with a cape worthy of a style superhero.  Deliciously dramatic, the cape delivers an exaggerated silhouette to play with - and keeps you warm all the while.  Do as Sofia Coppola does and have some fun with the dramatic cape with an equally exaggerated silhouette.  We love how she pairs her voluminous cape with something super skinny on the bottom, juxtaposing an elegant "uptown" cape with a "downtown" pair of leggings.  Here’s how to get the look:

1. Start with a tailored white button down shirt and a pair of skinny black leggings or trouser pants.  Bonus points for picking a pair that hits just above the ankle.
2. Layer on your voluminous cape, creating a gorgeous big-over-small silhouette.
3. Finish off the look with a structured bag and a pair of ballet flats, which pair perfectly with the cropped pants.

How would you wear the cape?  Share your style with us in the comments!

The blue one looks lovely. I’d wear something like that!

I think skinny jeans / leggings + ankle boots would make this look lovely too! For a more dressy style, a pencil skirt that falls right below the knees with heels would look great as well — at least according to the picture in my head.

Love this, would add a belt (not too wide) or a bold necklace to avoid looking too plain.

You just can’t go wrong with a tailored white shirt. Not sure if I could wear a cape but otherwise a good look.

Everything is OKAY but so plain, you must add accessories to make it look a bit trendy.

The nice thing about capes is that they are truly timeless. The vintage capes can be mixed with a modern wardrobe effortlessly and vise versa!

Capes are great aren’t they! They’re actually available at a relatively cheap price as well, combine it with a splash of colour (if you’ve gone for a plain one) and they can be dressed up with a pair of heels or made more casual with jeans. A worthy addition to any wardrobe :-)

thanks for the ideas. i live in a tropical country so wearing capes is not really a fad. but if i were to wear it somewhere cold, i’ll throw it on a pair of leggings and match it with classy black heels, and accessorize minimally. i don’t want my outfit to look too busy and heavy. :)
